While I was doing my internship in Washington DC, I got contacted by a few people on LinkedIn to have a talk about opportunities to work for their company. One company stuck, BrightAnalytics, and I signed a contract to start working for them. This blogpost details how it all happened.

Initial contact

I was contacted by an HR person from BrightAnalytics, who had seen my LinkedIn profile, and thought I would be a good fit for their company. We had a call online to have a first talk, to gauge if I would be a good fit for the team. The talk was very positive, and I was invited to talk to their development team lead.

Interview with the development team lead

This interview was a bit more serious at start. The team lead of course wanted to know my history, and what I had done before. He asked me about my internship in Washington DC, and what I had learned there. He also asked me about my studies, why I chose to do two bachelors, and what I did with my extra time for courses I didn’t need to take anymore in the second studies (spoiler, I went to the classes either way). We had a very good talk, and at the end he told me that even though we didn’t speak very technical, he could tell I knew what I was talking about, and wanted me to go further with the next steps of the interview process.

Talking with one of the founders

The third and last step of the interview process was talking to one of the founders of the company. He wanted to know what I thought of the company, and what I thought I could bring to the table. He also asked me about my internship in Washington DC, and what I had learned there. He was very interested in the fact that I had been in the US, and wanted to know what I thought of the country. We had a very good talk, and at the end he told me that he wanted me to come work for them.

The offer

I got the offer a few days after the last interview. I reviewed it and talked about it with my family and friends, to know what they all thought, and everyone told me it was a great offer to start with. I accepted the offer, and we agreed I would be starting the job on May 21st, three weeks after I returned from my internship in Washington DC

The first weeks

Starting a new job, especially the first job ever, was a bit stressful. I didn’t know what to think, who my colleagues were going to be, and if I was even going to like the work. Luckily it all worked out. My colleagues are amazing, and they really helped me feel welcome at the company. The work is also very interesting, and I am learning a lot every day. The company cares a lot about their employees, and you can really tell they want you to feel at home. I am very happy I accepted the offer, and I am looking forward to the future at BrightAnalytics.
