On May 2nd, I took part in the salesforce finals of Delaware in Ghent. The finals were held in the offices of Delaware in Ghent. When I arrived I was greeted with some drinks and snacks. I started talking to some people and suddenly I saw some people I knew from my university that had also joined the challenge. It was a nice surprise as it had been a while that I was able to talk with them. In the end, thirty people divided in teams of three or four people were competing against each other to win the challenge Delaware had provided us.
Delaware had created an environment where each team had to create a simple chatbot. The chatbot had to be able to start a new customer support case in the salesforce platform, and also return the status of the case that was created. All in all this is not that big of a challenge, but pay in mind, we only had one hour in total to create this, which is not a lot of time at all. There was a lot of pressure on completing the challenge, but also creating a good bot. It was not about which team would create this bot the fastest, but about how well it was made within the time they provided us.
All teams came with beautiful creations, and each of the bots had their own strong suit, but there can only be one winner. The team that one had created an amazing presentation of their bot, and the bot was also responsive in a way that it talked to you less robot like than a lot of other teams.
We got some extra time after the challenge to network with the other participants some more. I talked to a lot of people and was able to gain some new insights in the world of salesforce. I also spoke to people from Delaware itself, and although they are looking for new hires, I was already signed with another company, so I had to decline their offer. I did get some nice contacts from the people I talked to, and I hope to see them again in the future.
